I’ve done a lot of work, but there is so much left to be done!! Tonight was my last appointment with my therapist, who’ve I’ve been seeing for more than 18 months. It’s crazy to think about the person I was when I first walked in to her office: broken, weepy, beaten down by the life I thought was the one I was supposed to be living. She has helped me get through some of the worst times of my life, but also helped me to identify the patterns of behavior that I seem to fall into over and over; patterns that seem innocuous at first, but always end up dragging me back down into despair. It’s been worth every penny, but I am glad to now be totally off meds and ready to face my new life all on my own.
I have finally purchased a bag for my travels! I went with the http://www.pacsafe.com/toursafe-exp21-wheeled-carry-on-luggage-4.html. It is a bit on the small side, but I’m trying to keep things simple, small, and light, so I think this is the right bag for me. I also really appreciate all the crazy safety features that will undoubtedly make me feel more secure throughout my journey.
Now, the real issue remaining is to sell all my stuff. EVERYTHING MUST GO! I’m stashing suitcases of clothes and random sentimental stuff all over the country, but the big furniture things need to be sold. I only have one more month before I have to move out of my apartment, so it’s definitely go time!
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. Luckily, my super awesome friend Malia (http://www.shoyusugar.com) has decided to join me for the first leg of my trip across South America! She is a veteran world traveler and all around amazing travel companion, so I’m grateful that I’ll have her to help me navigate the big wide world, for at least the first 5-6 months or so!
It’s really happening, y’all. Have I said that before? Still so hard to believe.
